Close

Procedure: Level Turn #

🛩️ Procedure: Level turn 🛩️
Purpose Description
Check Lift wing and check for traffic in direction of turn (use rudder to hold heading)
Turn Smoothly apply aileron deflection and rudder pressure direction of turn (slight left rudder in left turn, more right rudder in right turn)
Elevator Apply slight back pressure proportional to steepness of bank to hold altitude
When angle achieved Neutralize ailerons to maintain bank
Close

Procedure: Steep turns #

🛩️ Procedure: Steep turns 🛩️
Purpose Description
Check Ask instructor / examiner / passengers to help look for traffic
Turn 180 or two 90 Do 180 or two 90 degree clearing turns for any traffic or obstacles
Roll & Trim Roll into the turn and trim 3 (4 if right) full turns of nose up trim
Establish 40 to 45 degree turn, following horizon/cowling
If low Rollout of bank slightly and increase backpressure
If high Roll in steeper and reduce backpressure
Rollout & Trim 20 degree before desired rollout heading, begin smooth rollout, dial out nose trim same amount you dialed in
Close

Procedure: Normal landing (CIRCUIT / ONTO DOWNWIND) #

RADIO:

  • ABEAM CENTER: Make call you are midfield
  • BASE: Make call you are on base
  • FINAL: Make call you are on FINAL.
  • CLEAR OF RUNWAY: Make call you are clear

Tips:

  • Remember 80/70/60! 80 initial descent, 70 on base, 60-65 on final
  • Power for altitude!
  • Pitch for airspeed!
🛩️ Procedure: Normal landing 🛩️
Purpose Description
Inbound 1,500 ft,
Downwind Distance 2/3 up Wing Strut. 0.5-1nm away from runway
Downwind 90 kts, 1,000 ft AGL, 2,200 RPM
Notes Reduce power, hold nose up to trade airspeed for altitude, add flaps
Downwind@Abeam 80 kts, 10° Flaps, 1,500 RPM, -500 VS Descent
Base 70 kts, 800 ft AGL, 20° Flaps
Final 60-65 kts, 500 ft AGL, 30° Flaps
Flare at 10ft AGL Throttle idle, back pressure, nose to horizon
Checklist Transponder to standby, retract flaps

🛩️ Procedure: Soft field landing 🛩️
Purpose Description
Approach Fly approach and landing as normal landing
Landing flair Add little power to soften the landing
Touchdown POWER OFF, hold full aft elevator
Close

Procedure: Short field take off #

🛩️ Procedure: Short field take off 🛩️
Purpose Description
Line up As close to threshold as possible
Hold elevator Hold elevator 1 inch back from gust lock hole
Hold brakes & apply full power Hold brakes & apply full power
Check Check RPMs over 2300 and engine instruments in the green
